TBGCC Quilts

The Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club Quilter’s Association have decided to take on a new project by generously donating their talents, time and resources to providing quilts to children seen at Pasco Kids First. The quilts made of a variety of child and teenage friendly fabrics are given to kids in East Pasco County who have experienced a traumatic event to provide them comfort. Many times the children have to leave their homes without anything. They are grateful that someone they never met cared enough to provide them with the nice and comfy blanket that they can call their own.

Pasco County had more than 5,751 abuse reports in 2015 and Pasco Kids First served 1,249 kids through child abuse assessments or therapy services. Stressful or traumatic childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect, witnessing domestic violence or growing up with alcohol or other substance abuse, mental illness, parental discord, or crime in the community are a common pathway to social, emotional, and cognitive impairments that lead to increased risk of unhealthy behaviors, risk of violence or re-victimization, disease, disability and premature mortality.
