You don't have to be a whiz at algebra or a grammar genius to make sure your kids do well in school. Get our strategies for school success.
Ask Questions. Educate yourself on your kids school experience. Ask your children what classes they like, what teachers are the best, and what is happening at school. These questions make for great dinner conversation and will also clue you in to when your child may be having issues/struggles.
Join the PTA. This is a great way to understand what goes on at your child's school and be actively involved in his/her education. And, it doesn't necessarily require a huge time commitment.
Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences. Ask the teachers how your child is doing and listen. Find out as much as you can about what your child is learning so you can reinforce that at home.
Have Lunch With Your Kids. This is especially meaningful to younger kids. They love the attention and the fact that you have taken time out of your schedule to have lunch with them.
Praise and Reward. Kids have a way of reaching the goals and aspirations that we as parents set for them. Stress the importance of a good education. Come up with special treats for a good report card or test grade - it can be as simple as an ice cream cone or a special dinner at home.
With just a little time and effort, you can make sure your children succeed in school.
