Become Part of Stopping Child Abuse
with Pasco Kids First
Join Pasco Kids First in the campaign in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month on Thursday, April 23rd at 4:30pm at the Pasco Kids First Office, located at 7615 Little Road in New Port Richey. Pasco Kids First is dedicated toward creating a community-wide commitment to support all parents and children. Be a part of the “Winds of Change; it’s Your Turn” encouraging individuals to take action and make children a priority in our community.
The campaign is built around the symbol of the pinwheel. Pinwheels are a happy and uplifting symbol of childhood. As a campaign symbol, a pinwheel conveys the message that every child deserves the chance to be raised in a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment. It goes beyond making people aware of the issue of child abuse and neglect. It engages people to act to prevent it from ever happening in the first place.
Come view our display of pinwheels on April 23rd; where you will see 570 pinwheels in front of the Pasco Kids First building - each pinwheel illustrates one of the 570 child abuse reports in Pasco County for ONE Month; March, 2009. Rick Hess, Executive Director of Pasco Kids First, will provide brief remarks about the symbolism of each pinwheel and the importance of focusing on the prevention of child abuse. Refreshments will be served and pinwheels will be available for children to take home. The pinwheels will be displayed on the lawn in front of the office on Little Road until April 31st, the last day of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Our hope is to impact our neighbors to recognize the prevalence of child abuse in our community.
